What to see in Nerja?

The Balcony of Europe: situated on a cliff, this beautiful monument that has its origin in an ancient IX century Moorish castle is one of the favorite places of tourists because of its wonderful view places. To visit it you only need to walk the street Pintada which is right next to our hostel in Nerja.

Mirador del Bendito: This is a viewpoint that was built only a few years ago and is located in the center of the town of Nerja. A real window to Carabeillo beach offers a beautiful view of the sea and horizon.

Maro Tower: is a monument of Arab origin from which the visitors can see the entire coast around the town of Nerja. Its objective was to guard the coast and send signals to other towers to protect them from possible attacks – such as the tower Maccaca that can be seen in one of the coves of Punta Lara beach. Currently it offers a beautiful sight not only of the Natural Park of Maro-Cerro Gordo where it is located, but also of the whole area.

Square Verano Azul in Nerja: fans of the TV- series Verano Azul  will love to know that since 2001 there is a place that pays homage to this TV-series of the 1980s making public the small town in Spain. In the same square we can find monuments as “The Fountain of Europe”, built with stone blocks from different countries on the continent and “La Dorada”, the ship that appeared in the television series.

Aqueduct of Aguila: another Arab culture vestige left in the town and it is in perfect condition. Originally it was used to transport water from the highlands to the coast and still bears the irrigation water to nearby fields.

So, in addition to beautiful pristine beaches with clear water, the town also has many attractions for the lovers of cultural tourism.
